Teacher Assistant

Part time position, 21-22 school year

​

Teacher Assistant (part time position, 21-22 school year) under the general supervision of the School Director, Head Teacher and Board of Directors, the teacher assistant will assist in implementing the curriculum for the Pre-K class at The Village Nursery School. 

​

The Village Nursery School (VNS) is a non-profit, state licensed nursery school in Farmington, CT that provides a quality preschool education in a nurturing environment. VNS was established in 1957 as “The Village Cooperative Nursery School” by a group of parents to provide the community with a preschool for children aged three- to five-year-old, regardless of race, creed, color, or gender. For more than 60 years we have been proud to offer early childhood education in Farmington.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the curriculum provided by Head Teacher 

• Work with small groups under direction of classroom teacher 

• Supervise children outside 

• Clerical (as needed) 

• Scheduling activities 

• Preparing for classroom projects 

• Handling records and student information in a confidential manner 

• Complete all assigned mandated training programs 

• May be asked to provide personal care assistance 

• Help keep learning areas tidy and safe 

• Provide a welcoming, inclusive learning atmosphere for all students

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in a licensed educational environment

• A Bachelor's degree

• A passion for early childhood education and helping children grow in positive ways 

• First Aid and CPR certification 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Must pass verification and background checks
